About Jamie
Jamie Béchard brings a robust background in marketing and digital communications to her role as Communications Director of the Desert Lake Property Owners' Association, a position she has held since July 2018. With expertise in strategic messaging, digital media, and brand development, Jamie has played a fundamental role in building and shaping the Association’s public presence and its digital assets.
Leveraging her professional skills, Jamie spearheaded the development and ongoing management of the Association’s website, ensuring it serves as a dynamic resource for members, and stakeholders. She is responsible for curating and updating website content and maintaining streamlined communications infrastructure for the Association’s evolving needs. Jamie also produces and distributes the seasonal newsletter, communicates key environmental and policy updates, and manages the Association’s branded signature merchandise program—an initiative that not only promotes community identity, but also supports vital fundraising efforts for environmental stewardship on Desert Lake.
As the primary steward of the Association's email communications inbox, Jamie facilitates responsive connections between members, directors, and the wider Desert Lake community.
Jamie also manages the association's public Facebook page, a private members-only Facebook group, and the Instagram feed, strengthening community engagement and connection across platforms.
Jamie and her husband, Rob, are proud property owners on the Peninsula near Deyos Bay, having chosen Desert Lake in 2015 after an extensive search across Ontario. They were drawn to Desert Lake by its exceptional water quality, its rare biosphere and rich biodiversity, dramatic landscape, and convenient proximity to Kingston—city of Rob's childhood and the family’s ongoing roots. Their connection with the land grew over years spent camping and kayaking before building their cottage in 2021.
Jamie is inspired by the intellectual rigor and commitment to stewardship exemplified by the association’s diverse membership who have chosen Desert Lake as their year-round or seasonal home. She is passionate about contributing her professional expertise and personal dedication to ensuring Desert Lake remains a pristine natural resource for generations to come.
“I care deeply about preserving the beauty and stewardship of Desert Lake.”
