Desert Lake Property Owners’ Association

About Laura

Laura Stanbra and her husband, Thomas Bucher, purchased their property on Desert Lake in 2016. Drawn to the lake and its surrounding natural landscape, they made the move from Ottawa to live on Desert Lake year-round in 2020.

Now retired from a career in administration in post-secondary education, Laura enjoys the opportunities for outdoor recreation and connection that come with life on the lake. Whether open-water swimming, kayaking, walking through the Frontenac woods, or spending time with friends and neighbours, she appreciates both the natural beauty of the area and its welcoming community.

Laura became involved with the Desert Lake Property Owners’ Association in 2021 as a way to meet fellow residents and contribute to the community she and Thomas now call home. She joined the Board of Directors in 2022 and serves as Treasurer, supporting the Association’s financial administration and its ongoing work on behalf of Desert Lake property owners.

For Laura, involvement with the Association is an opportunity to work alongside neighbours who share a commitment to the health of the lake, the strength of its community, and the responsible enjoyment of this special place for years to come.
